The pink linen kirtle I made for a friend made its début last weekend. Linen/rayon blend soft bodice with handmade eyelets. It has sleeves but it was way too hot for them. Over all I am pleased the next version in green wool will need very little tweaking.
Thanks for the kind word Megan! =) The bodice is a mixture of a custom drafted pattern I did for her that was fitted long distance using photos and web video. She lost some weight so I revised it a bit and had a lucky chance to do a quick in person fitting on the bodice. She got to keep the skirt while I took the bodice home to finish it off and popped it in the mail to her once it was done.
I’m going to be doing a kirtle sew along soon using a simplicity pattern as a base and then tossing out the pattern instructions and showing how to make it a bit more historical.
If you are looking to jump right in I’d recommend http://www.tudortailor.com/.
I really like your colour choice, and the bodice looks like it fits very nicely – well done! I’d like to try making a similar style dress soon (my to do list just keeps growing!), did you use a pattern that is available to download or buy?
Thank you, Megan (http://www.showtimestitches.blogspot.com)
